Frequently Asked Questions
Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, especially if past experiences have made trust difficult. You are not required to be certain, ready, or “fixed” before beginning therapy. Curiosity, hope, or even uncertainty are enough.
If you’re considering counseling, we invite you to take the next small step—whether that’s scheduling a consultation, asking a question, or simply learning more about our services. Healing happens in relationship, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

What It Helps To Know.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THERAPY IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Many people seek therapy not because something is “wrong,” but because something matters. If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or impacted by past experiences—or if you simply want support navigating life’s challenges—therapy may be a helpful next step. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit. Curiosity about healing is reason enough.
WHAT CAN THERAPY HELP WITH?
Therapy can support a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, chronic stress, identity exploration, and the effects of long-term or developmental trauma. At Living Tree Wellness Center, we also work with individuals navigating complex or cumulative experiences, including relational trauma and nervous system dysregulation.
WHAT IS TRAUMA INFORMED THERAPY?
Trauma-informed therapy recognizes how past experiences can shape the nervous system, relationships, and sense of safety. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we work collaboratively to build stability, increase choice, and support your body and mind in healing at a pace that feels respectful and empowering.
WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TALK ABOUT?
That’s very common. You do not need to arrive with a clear plan or the “right words.” Part of the work is discovering together what wants attention. Your therapist will help guide the conversation while honoring your comfort and readiness.
IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes. Confidentiality is a foundational part of the therapeutic relationship. What you share in therapy remains private, with limited exceptions required by law (such as imminent risk of harm). We review confidentiality thoroughly so you can make informed choices about your care. Should anything we talk about fall into the exceptions required by law your provide will inform you and plan with you how to proceed in the way that best supports you and your goals while meeting the requirements of the law.
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY LAST?
There is no one-size-fits-all timeline. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others engage in longer-term work. Therapy is collaborative, and we regularly check in about goals, progress, and pacing. People are able to return for support if new issues arise after completing therapy.
HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build consistency and support momentum. Over time, frequency may shift based on your needs, goals, and capacity. If you find you need support more often than weekly, we may recommend additional supports/services outside our agency to help meet those needs. We make these decisions together, and can adjust them as things change and availability allow. Our goal is to get you the support you need.
WHAT IF I AM NOT SURE IT IS A GOOD FIT?
Fit matters. A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in healing. We encourage open communication and welcome questions at any point. If something doesn’t feel right, we will work with you thoughtfully and ethically to explore next steps. These next steps could include changes your provider makes in how they deliver services, exploring transferring you to a new provider at our agency, or providing support while you seek services elsewhere. The mots important thing to your provider is to get you connected to services that work for you as they are able.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Getting started begins with reaching out. A consultation allows us to answer questions, discuss services, and determine whether Living Tree Wellness Center feels like a supportive match for your needs. You don’t need to have everything figured out—just a willingness to begin.
